Mechanic

The Mechanic is responsible for maintenance and repairs of the engine. Additionally, they are the 2nd Helmsperson, and might be tasked to manoeuvre the vessel in shifts with the skipper. They also support with deck and guest care work, whenever other duties allow.

Requirements:

• Experience in engine maintenance – ideally similar craft (twin MAN V10 Diesel engine, no bow thruster)
• Experience in SAR (not necessarily as mechanic) AND/OR experience of sailing on small vessels

Particularly desired:

• AEC1 or above, STCW Engine Watchkeeping licence
• Experience with maintenance of Electric Systems (Battery system, engine controls etc)
• German SBF See, or equivalent pleasure craft license without limitations of distance from the coast, and valid Radio Operator’s Certificate
• experience working with volunteers, some of whom with limited nautical experience
